The Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America, known as SPEBSQSA (pronounced "spebsqua") was founded in 1938 when the acronyms of the government's New Deal programs littered the news.

My grandfather, Paul W. Vogel, was a founding member of the Painesville Chapter of SPEBSQSA.  The Painesvile Chapter in the Jonny Appleseed District was founded in 1948.  He sang in the chapter chorus and sang bass for the Chordsters (1955) and Dandies (1960) quartets.  He was president of the North Coast Chapter in the 1970s and sang until he thought his voice expired in the mid 1990s.  This collection consists of

With the exception of several excerpts from the monthly publication, Harmonizer, archived at Barbershop Harmony Society, the items in this collection belonged to Paul.
