This scrapbook, created by Helen Elizabeth Clapp for the school year 1926-1927, documents her senior year attending the North Carolina College for Women (now The University of North Carolina at Greensboro). Clapp, who was originally from Greensboro, NC, graduated in 1927 with a Bachelor of Arts having participated in French club, Spanish club, Education club, and the tennis team. In the yearbook, Pine Needles, Clapp is described as clever and artistic. This scrapbook includes the college song, class song, and moto for the graduating class of 1927. Clapp’s scrapbook features many photographs of trips to such locations as the Carolina Arboretum, the Forest Theater in Chapel Hill, Lakeview, Wrightsville Beach, Virginia Beach, and Roaring Gap. There are personal photographs of family members and events such as, a cake race. Also included are programs for school events like Commencements, Senior Week, Home Coming, the dedication of the new auditorium, and Park Night Service. Clapp also included programs and tickets to theatrical events she attended, including the Music Box Revue, Ziegfield’s Sally, Paul Whiteman and his Orchestra, and the Elson Art Exhibit. A further information about Clapp’s personal life on campus is seen with the inclusion of dance cards, dance programs, invitations, banquet menus, and correspondence. 

This scrapbooks is housed at the Martha Blakeney Hodges Special Collections and University Archives, UNCG University Libraries.
