About this collection

This collection highlights the life and accomplishments of the actress and comedian, Pauline Hall [Feb. 26,1860 - Dec. 29, 1919], in the peak of her career and throughout her life.  Pauline started off as a background singer in the chorus of various operas.  Her talented soon shined and she became the star of many shows in the prima donna roles.  She was praised for her beauty and appealing figure, although critics were often critical of her stage talent.  However, it was her part in Erminie (1886) where she became a household name.  She played the part of Erminie and the show was a wild success, being performed over 500 times at the Casino Theater and traveling.  Pauline later began her own comedic theatre company and continued to build her career and success until her death of bronchial pneumonia in Yonkers, NY in 1919.
